Hi! Welcome to GillisAeropaint. We have been painting small aircraft since 1985. We are located about ten miles south of Will Rodgers World Airport. We enjoy working on RV aircraft, and thanks to the high volume of production of RV aircraft, are transitioning almost exclusively to painting Van's RV aircraft. |
Our Procedure:
-
Fiberglass parts on RV aircraft are very porous and require us to remove, highbuild, and fill them as necessary.
-
Wash and etch and shoot the entire aircraft with corrosive resistant epoxy primer.
-
Parts of the RV we with to avoid painting we mask, and then paint the remainder of the aircraft.
-
Lay out your choice of RV aircraft scheme, and shoot accent colors.
-
Check RV aircraft over.
- Check the aircraft over for inspection.
- Finished painting the RV aircraft.
The gillis family have been painting small aircraft since 1985. We were actually introduced to RV aircraft painting in 1993. We enjoyed the new experience of painting the RV aircraft. Although the fiber glass on a brand new RV aircraft is very porous and requires much additional work, most come bare metal and do not require the use of chemical paint remover. Even if the RV did have paint, the flush rivets make the RV aircraft a great candidate for sand and paint. The majority of homebuilt aircraft we have painted are Vans RV aircraft which are becoming a more and more popular aircraft. Since vans RV aircraft are very similar we have become familiar with the process of painting them.
